As we look ahead to 2025, we’re focusing on a critical need: anxiety and depression, particularly among young people. These issues are rising rapidly, and with one of the highest youth suicide rates in the OECD, the urgency to act has never been more pressing. Nearly half of New Zealanders will experience mental distress at some point in their lives, and this includes our youth.
To meet this need, alongside the Foundation’s usual support for a broad range of mental health projects, we’ve launched a targeted fund dedicated to advancing research into anxiety and depression, particularly among youth.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 for 2025 – doubling the amount we’ve made available to support research in previous years. With your support, we can achieve this ambitious target and fund the innovative, evidence-based research that will lead to real solutions for those struggling with these issues.
